Fremantle has poached Disney+ ’s head of originals in Italy to run its Italian operation alongside interim CEO Valerio Fiorespino .

Alessandro Saba , whose Disney+ credits include The Good Mothers and Paolo Genovese’s Follemente (Madly) , will take up the Fremantle Italy Co-CEO role with Fiorespino on October 1. The news comes almost a year to the day that ex-Cinecittà Studios chief Nicola Maccanico chose not to take up the Fremantle Italy CEO role he had been offered due to what he termed a “hostile climate” surrounding his resignation from Cinecittà.

Since Maccanico’s volte-face, Fiorespino has been overseeing Fremantle Italy on an interim basis and he will now take the job permanently. The CEOs of the Italian companies within the group – Fremantle Italia, Lux Vide ,
