CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Andrew Abbott’s bad start in early September against the New York Mets, the hapless offense with runners in scoring position against the Athletics and the lifeless offense in Tuesday’s loss in St. Louis all felt at the time like they were the beginning of the end of the Cincinnati Reds’ playoff hopes for 2025.

And yet here the Reds are, two games behind the New York Mets in the race for the final wild card spot with 10 games left to play.

“It’s been a rollercoaster,” Nick Martinez said. “You’ve got to dig. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ve got to find a way to get it done. We’ve had some lows this month, but we’re not out of it. We can’t give up. We can’t give in. we have to continue to fight.”
