A male driver was injured early Thursday when the car he was driving left the road and ended up in a wooded area in Forks Township.
Township Police Chief Michael C. Friel said the accident happened just after 1:50 a.m. at Bushkill Drive and Uhler Road. The driver was heading south at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control, left the road, and ended up in a wooded area by Newlins Mill Road, the chief said.
There were no passengers in the car. The driver, who suffered serious injuries, was rescued by emergency personnel and taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill , Friel said.
An update on the driver’s condition was not immediately available.
Investigators believe the driver was impaired by alcohol or another substance at the time of the accident. Friel said charg
