SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — With the lack of rain continuing, most of Central New York, including Syracuse, remains classified as abnormally dry.

This is according to the latest summary from the United States Drought Monitor, which accounts for the conditions through 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16.

How much has the drought expanded?

Here is a look at where abnormally dry conditions expanded in our area since last week's update: • Madison County: ↑ 25.78% • Chenango County: ↑ 12.14% • Tompkins County: ↑ 4.41% • Lewis County: ↑ 2.26% • Oneida County: ↑ 2.04% • Cayuga County: ↑ 1.32% • Onondaga County: ↑ 0.78% • Oswego County: ↑ 0.03% • Seneca County: ↑ 0.03%

The moderate drought in the northwestern parts of Wayne and St. Lawrence counties also slightly expanded.
