The announcement comes in response to ABC’s decision to indefinitely pull Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night program off the air. The move followed public pressure from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr, who condemned Kimmel’s recent remarks regarding the suspected killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Sinclair, a powerful media conglomerate with a long history of pro-administration messaging, was also named as a subject of the investigation.
