SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Firefighters rescued one elderly person from a fire that happened just after midnight on Sept. 18.
According to the Syracuse Fire Department, the Onondaga County 911 Center was alerted to a fire on the 300 block of Albert Road.
Crews arrived and began stretching hose lines through the front door, and others went to look for any victims. That's when they were made aware of an elderly person who was still inside.
"Crews located the victim while others attacked the fire. Firefighters encountered heavy fire in the kitchen area and began extinguishment efforts. A conscious victim was successfully removed and turned over to American Medical Response (AMR) for treatment," said the Syracuse Fire Department.
The victim's condition is unknown at this time.
