LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin Panthers welcome in a familiar foe Friday night when the Tyler High Lions come to town.

KTRE Sports Director Ryan Smith spoke with Lufkin Head Coach Carl Abseck Wednesday on the Red Zone Preview show. After a season-opening loss to Longview, the Pack has rattled off two wins in a row. Abseck says the kids have responded the right way.

“They want to win. They’ve worked hard for it. So, when you don’t have the success, you have two responses. One, to go back to work and fix things, or you can pout and whine about it,” Abseck said. “Our kids responded the right way...At the end of the day, it’s about us and us being the best version that we can be.”

Smith says Lufkin is solid in all three phases of the game.
