It took opponents 148 games, but someone finally caught Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story trying to steal a base this year.
After stealing 31 bases without getting caught this season, Story was finally thrown out against the Athletics during the Red Sox’s 5-4 win on Wednesday night.
After swiping two bags on Tuesday , Story stole another one on Wednesday, stealing second after drilling a game-tying single in the bottom of the sixth. That made him a perfect 31-for-31 in stolen base attempts this year, setting the American League record for most consecutive stolen bases without getting caught.
However, that streak ended in the bottom of the eighth when A’s catcher Shea Langeliers did something no other catcher has accomplished this year, throwing out Story as he attempted to ste
