ALASKA (WTAJ) —The 2025 Fat Bear Week competition isn't quite here, but before the coveted competition comes a similar competition, but one made for the little bears who put in the work this spring.

At Katmai National Park, rangers, officials, and bear enthusiasts have worked to mark and protect the history of the park and the habitat that is home to thousands of brown bears, including some very cute, but maybe not cuddly, cubs. The bears are some of the most iconic and recognizable species there and the world knows it during Fat Bear Week. However, before the competition of the big bears comes the smaller, but no less prepared for winter, bears.
