TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index was up nearly 100 points in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the technology sector, while U.S. markets also rose.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 99.16 points at 29,420.82.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 124.44 points at 46,142.76. The S&P 500 index was up 42.03 points at 6,642.38, while the Nasdaq composite was up 264.79 points at 22,526.12.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.46 cents US compared with 72.67 cents US on Wednesday.
The November crude oil contract was down 31 cents US at US$63.39 per barrel.
The December gold contract was down US$46.10 at US$3,671.70 an ounce.
