ZAVALLA, Texas (KETK)-- During an emergency city council meeting on Sept. 11, the city of Zavalla redeclared a state of emergency due to the ongoing water supply issues it has been experiencing.
According to Robert Denby, the Zavalla Chief of Police, the emergency status, originally declared on September 4, aims to secure funding and facilitate water distribution to residents. The Texas Department of Emergency Management is collaborating with local officials to address the crisis.
The state of emergency is expected to last either 16 or 30 days, with renewals planned until the issue is resolved. Water is being distributed to residents on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Old Solid Rock Church.
