HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — Officials in Hamilton County are pausing plans for a domestic violence shelter due to "financial constraints" caused by Senate Bill 1.
Signed into law earlier this year by Gov. Mike Braun, SB1 provides Indiana homeowners $1.3 in property tax relief over the first three years.
But as 13News has previously reported , those savings come at the cost of significantly fewer dollars for cities and counties.
"This is a very difficult and disappointing decision," Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt said in a statement. "The new law has created enormous financial constraints.
