The Philadelphia Phillies surged to a second-straight National League East title this year as they enjoyed star contributions from a number of players.

Kyle Schwarber emerged as a Most Valuable Player Award candidate with the most productive slugging season of his career. Trea Turner enjoyed a resurgent season at the plate and on defense. And three members of the rotation — Cristopher Sanchez, Ranger Suarez and Jesus Luzardo — have stepped up to fill the gap left by Zack Wheeler's season-ending injury and Aaron Nola's regression.

Thanks to that trio of starters, the Phillies never had to turn to their top prospect Andrew Painter for a call up to the big leagues. The team initially set a July range expectation for Painter's debut, but the team's solid rotation and Painter's own struggles
