It’s been a long time since the Boone High football players could walk around the school hallways and say they are undefeated after Week 4. To be exact, 17 years.

But head coach Andy Johnson, who has been at the school for 13 years, said his players have handled their success well. The Braves (4-0) are ranked No. 8 in this week’s Sentinel Super 16 Coaches Poll and will be facing No. 11 Ocoee (3-1) on Friday night.

The other big game this week has No. 3 Jones (2-2) hosting No. 4 Osceola (3-1).

“Obviously they are excited but, I think, for the most part, keeping it in perspective and just trying to get better,” Johnson said of his players. “They’re happy with what they’ve accomplished so far.”
