SHEPHERDSTOWN -- For generations, the Golden Rule Farm has thrived under the hands of the Ware family, who have used it for growing crops and raising dairy and meat animals. Among the farm's animals, today, are a number of personable piglets and Nigerian dwarf goats.

Those animals are now featured members of a petting zoo that farm owners Charles and Ashley Ware and their children -- 13-year-old Hunter, 11-year-old Bryce and eight-year-old Kaylyn -- debuted at a recent event at Devil's Due Distillery in Kearneysville.

"Cynthia was planning this event and looking for fall decorations," Ashley said, referring to Cynthia McDade, who helps with the event planning at her husband's distillery. "I said, 'I've got goats!' That's how this all came about, actually."
