OREM, Utah — Flags across the country were lowered to half-staff following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, who was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 — just one day before the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested and faces charges including capital murder.
Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 during his “American Comeback Tour” when he was struck by a sniper’s bullet to the neck.
Bullet casings recovered from the scene were engraved with messages referencing anti-fascist ideology and Internet memes.
