NEW YORK — Americans are feeling increasingly pessimistic about the job market, according to the latest survey of consumer expectations from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Their perceptions about the probability of finding a new job if they lose their current one fell 5.8 percentage points in August to 44.9% — its lowest reading since June 2013 — the survey found.

More Americans also believe their chances of losing their job and the unemployment rate will both be higher a year from now.
