Doctor leaves patient mid-operation to have sex with nurse

A doctor in the U.K. who abandoned his patient midway through an operation to have sex with a nurse avoided a ban from practicing medicine.

Dr. Suhail Anjum, a married father of three, admitted to leaving his patient under anesthesia, but he and the nurse were caught “in a compromising position” by a colleague at Tameside Hospital in the Greater Manchester area,” the BBC reported.

The doctor told the medical tribunal that it was a “one-off error of judgment” that would never be repeated.

He continued: “It was quite shameful, to say the least. I only have myself to blame.”

Anjum added: “I let down everybody, not just my patient and myself but the trust and how it would look. I let down my colleagues who gave me a lot of respect.”
