A veteran educator has been appointed to lead the Valley Academy Regional Alternative School in Fishersville.
The Waynesboro School Board tapped Katrina Lassiter at its meeting Sept. 9 to helm the school which serves middle and high school students who require nontraditional learning environment from the city and surrounding Augusta County.
Lassiter has served as an assistant principal at Waynesboro High School for 3 1/2 years. She also has held leadership positions at Waynesboro’s Kate Collins Middle School and within the Charlottesville and Norfolk school divisions. Prior to becoming an administrator, she worked as a special education teacher and special education instructional coach in the Norfolk schools.
