VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) - A father is dead and his 6-year-old child is in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck driver in Vancouver on Wednesday afternoon.

Vancouver police say the two were hit while walking along Northeast 137th Avenue, just south of Northeast 65th Street.

Officers responded to the crash at around 1:20 p.m., where they found the father lying in the road. He died at the scene.

Police say the child was found in a ditch about 10 feet from the crash site.
