Throughout a second season in the majors that began with a spot in the Cardinals’ opening day bullpen and included a lengthy stay in Class AAA as he worked through adjustments, right-hander Ryan Fernandez says he has leaned on what he did throughout a strong 2024.
“That has definitely helped me get through this season for sure because, as everybody knows, it hasn't been the greatest season for me up here,” said Fernandez, who has held an 8.64 ERA while in the majors this year after posting a 3.51 ERA as a rookie a year ago. “Knowing that I can be very successful at this level when things are falling my way or I'm just pitching better in general, that helps me, for sure, be in a better mood every day when I come in because I know I can do it.
“You've just got to go out there and do it.”
