EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A former Bank of O’Fallon executive was sentenced to federal prison after fraudulently getting nearly $2.5 million in funds from the bank.

Andrew P. Blassie, 70, is set to serve 63 months in prison and has been ordered to pay back $2,461,887.67 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to bank fraud and interstate transportation of security or funds obtained by fraud.

Court documents stated Blassie was the executive vice president for the Bank of O’Fallon and defrauded the bank through a check kite scheme between Sept. 2023 and Sept. 2024. Investigators said he admitted to falsifying the balance of his personal checking account at the bank by depositing checks with non-sufficient funds from four personal accounts at three other banks and one credit union in
