Donald Trump's presidential helicopter, Marine One, was compelled to make an emergency landing in the UK due to a hydraulic issue. The incident occurred as the president and First Lady Melania Trump were returning to the United States following their state visit. The helicopter was on the initial leg of its journey back when the pilot opted for a precautionary landing at a local airfield.

The White House confirmed that the landing was made out of an "abundance of caution" after a "minor hydraulic issue" was detected. Following the landing, the Trumps transferred to a support helicopter to continue their journey to Stansted Airport, where Air Force One awaited them. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, "Due to a minor hydraulic issue, and out of an abundance of caution, the pilots landed at a local airfield before reaching Stansted airport. The president and first lady safely boarded the support helicopter."

Despite the emergency landing, Trump arrived at Stansted approximately 20 minutes behind schedule. The White House did not provide details regarding the reason for the delay prior to take-off. On the final day of his state visit, Trump participated in a press conference at Chequers with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. During the conference, they discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with Starmer noting that the UK and US were collaborating to pressure Vladimir Putin into agreeing to a peace deal.

Trump expressed his belief that the Ukraine war could be resolved easily but lamented that Putin had "really let me down" due to the escalation of attacks on Ukraine. While the day proceeded largely without incident, some differences emerged between Trump and Starmer. Trump suggested military involvement to address the small boats crisis, warning that illegal migration could "destroy" countries.

Additionally, Trump acknowledged a "disagreement" with Starmer regarding the UK's plans to recognise a Palestinian state. He urged Britain to take advantage of its North Sea oil and gas resources, promoting his own "drill, baby drill" policy while dismissing wind power as a "very expensive joke."
