BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A man has been arrested for murder in connection with a shooting on Sycamore Street.

The shooting happened around 7:43 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.

According to police, patrol officers were dispatched to a scene to find a person later identified as Jaray Washington, 27, with gunshot wounds.

He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

During the course of their investigation, police say it was learned that Washington tried to intervene in an argument that led to his death.

Detectives were able to develop Tre’Vionte Simpson as a suspect responsible for the homicide of Washington.

Simpson was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and booked for second-deg
