Sam Lynch was walking home with his girlfriend and two close friends in King West Village last month when, in a split second, his life dramatically changed.

In the early morning hours of Aug. 8, the 33-year-old man was shot in the head and seriously injured.

Lynch, 33, and a female friend in her 30s, who was also shot and seriously injured, were the victims of random gun violence, Toronto Police said at the time.

“In an unthinkable act of unprovoked violence, Sam was shot, resulting in severe injuries that led to his current fight for survival in an ICU unit,” his mother Sarah Lynch shared on a GoFundMe page created Aug. 19 to help cover his future care.
