EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A congressional staffer for U.S. Congressman Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, died over the weekend, and her death is under investigation by the Uvalde Police Department and the Texas Rangers.

According to the San Antonio Express, Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, 35, died after she caught on fire at her residence this past Saturday, Sept. 13, in Uvalde, Texas.

The incident was initially reported as a disturbance at the 200 block of Geraldine Avenue, and fire officials received a call of an individual who was on fire.

Uvalde Volunteer Fire Chief Mario Rangel spoke with the paper, saying that when they arrived at the residence, they discovered that a fire had been put out behind the residence with a fire extinguisher.
