KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Michael Robert Potter, 38, from Rocky Top, Tennessee, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the distribution of child pornography, according to the United States Department of Justice.

On Sept. 18, Potter pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of distribution of child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A(a)(2).

From April to May 2023, investigators with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations — Internet Crimes Against Children and the Knoxville Police Department conducted an online investigation into the trafficking of child pornography, which led to the identification of an internet protocol address used by Potter.

The address contained several files containing child porn and child sex abuse, according to the U.S.
