It’s been over five years since HBO’s four-part documentary series “The Case Against Adnan Syed” premiered, and tonight, Sept. 18, a follow-up fifth episode will be released.

Director Amy J. Berg, who made the four original episodes , returns to chronicle what happened in the years since “The Case Against Adnan Syed” first came out.

Syed, the subject of the “Serial” podcast, convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999, had his conviction thrown out in 2022 and was released from prison.
