A suspect is in custody and facing charges after shots were fired at two homes, including one occupied by an Illinois state senator.
Police have said the shootings were not politically motivated. Around early Tuesday, police arrived at the home of Democratic Illinois state Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel in the southwest suburbs of Chicago after reports of shots being fired.
