COOPERSVILLE, Mich. — Ten-year-old Kamora Manhart is making a name for herself on the football field, the wrestling mat and now on a national stage.
Kamora competes in three sports: jiu-jitsu, wrestling and football.
“I got introduced to jiu jitsu and wrestling by my dad because he thought it was important for self-defense. And I got myself into football because I've always loved football,” she said.
Now, she’s in the running for Youth Athlete of the Year, a nationwide competition for athletes ages 7–17. The winner will take home $25,000 and appear in a Colossal/3BRAND advertisement in Sports Illustrated . Kamora is currently in fifth place.
“If I get to first place by the end of tonight, then I get to move on to the next round," she said. "If I win the next round, I get $25,000.”
