ALLEN PARK -- This season may be the first time David Shaw and Jared Goff have worked together, but the Detroit Lions’ passing game coordinator has had eyes on the quarterback for nearly 15 years.

Fast forward to today, both are in Detroit. And while Week 1 wasn’t the outcome anyone in the franchise wanted, Shaw had a front-row seat to Goff’s surgical performance in Sunday’s 52-21 rout of the Chicago Bears in the home opener at Ford Field.

Goff threw for 334 yards and five touchdowns, completing 82.1% of his passes with a 156.0 passer rating en route to being named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
