Two arrests have been made following a surge in reports of mobile phones and bank cards being stolen from Quay Street in Manchester city centre.

Greater Manchester Police said there have been a series of reports of the thefts from the public near to the Blues Kitchen.

Investigations into the incidents have been launched by the neighbourhood city centre policing team, with CCTV enquiries carried out.

The force said two males have been identified and arrested in connection with the thefts. One of which was charged with handling stolen goods and fraud by false representation, although the suspect was not named.
