Kristin Chenoweth , whose about to star in the upcoming Broadway musical The Queen of Versailles , is opening up about the flack from fans she caught last week after posting a social media message interpreted as sympathetic to slain right-wing activist Charlie Kirk .

Chenoweth, who has a large LGBTQ+ following, received numerous critical responses on Instagram for her post following the September 10 assassination of Kirk. She wrote, “I’m. So. Upset. Didn’t always agree but appreciated some perspectives. What a heartbreak. His young family. I know where he is now. Heaven. But still.”

The actress, who speaks often of her Christian faith, was inundated with Instagram responses critical of her post, many questioning which of Kirk’s “perspectives” she appreciated.
