Defense questions detective in murder trial for Ocala man accused of killing his husband

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Defense attorneys pressed Marion County Sheriff’s deputies about their investigation into the death of Timothy Smith, a prominent member of the Ocala business community. His husband stands accused of Smith’s murder.

On the fourth day of the murder trial against Herbert Swilley, 57, his defense attorneys pressed a detective about the evidence he collected.

Sergeant Daniel Pender, a detective on the case, testified to obtaining surveillance videos apparently showing Swiley’s truck driving by early the morning of March 24, 2023.
