"Grey's Anatomy" actor and celebrity photographer Brad Everett Young died on Monday, Sept. 15, due to injuries sustained from a traffic accident in Los Angeles. He was 46.

The collision occurred on the 134 Freeway late Sunday, Sept. 14, when the "Boy Meets World" alum's vehicle was struck by another driving in the wrong direction, Young's publicist Paul Christensen confirmed to USA TODAY on Thursday, Sept. 18.

As an actor, Young had TV roles in "Charmed," "Numb3rs" and "Felicity." He also appeared in multiple movies, including 2000's "Charlie's Angels" and 1997's "Jurassic Park II."

In recent years, the Virginia native shifted his focus to celebrity photography. His work was featured in Vanity Fair, People, Vogue and other outlets. Photographing stars from David Harbor to Sarah Michelle Gellar, Young was a familiar face at Hollywood premieres, galas and awards show red carpets.

In his final years, he also took up activism, becoming a founder of the grassroots project Dream Loud Official, which works to restore and preserve arts programs at schools across the nation. Through the initiative, he aimed to inspire students, teachers and artists in the U.S., his publicist says.

"Brad's passion for both the arts and the people behind them was unmatched," Christensen said in a statement. "He lived his mission of keeping creativity alive, and his legacy will continue through Dream Loud Official."

Funeral arrangements for Young have not been announced. His family is asking for prayers and privacy at this time.
