LINCOLN, Neb. —

On Thursday, Husker Athletics is unveiling a statue of retired Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook.

Cook stepped down this year after 25 seasons at the helm where he changed the sport forever.

There are multiple people expected to speak at Thursday's ceremony, including NU President Dr. Jeffrey Gold, Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen, current Husker volleyball coach Dani Busboom Kelly, as well as the man of the hour.

The statue is outside the Devaney Center near the bottom of the pedestrian ramp on the north side of the sports complex.

During his time with the Huskers, he spurred the team onto four national championships with a career record of 883 victories to just 176 losses.
