At the Beaverton Municipal Courthouse in Oregon, one wall outside Courtroom B stands out.
A bright mural stretches across its surface, depicting seven people walking toward a single, slanted mountaintop that jabs the sky. Rolling hills and a winding river below another mountain range frame its peak. A setting sun shines above the horizon, creating a warm glow.
Look closer and within the landscape are dozens of faint messages in orange paint — words of hope and encouragement.
The mural, unveiled in early September, came together after months of planning by city and court officials who partnered with internationally renowned muralist Kyle Holbrook to beautify the courthouse and give participants of its two treatment courts an opportunity to put their imprint on the building.
