A surge of moisture will bring rain and thunderstorm chances back to nearly all of New Mexico Friday. The heaviest rain will fall in western, southern, and central parts of the state.

Thunderstorms Thursday afternoon are staying mainly in southern New Mexico with drier air in the northern half of the state. Storms are still dropping heavy rainfall though. Storms over the Ruidoso area burn scars caused flash flooding Thursday afternoon. Temperatures are lightly cooler today across most of the state thanks to a weak cold front. The biggest drop in temperatures is in eastern New Mexico. The flash flooding risk ends later this evening as storms will continue moving east into with most rain ending later tonight.
