NEW ORLEANS — Ever since to fight crime in New Orleans and other cities in Louisiana, local leaders have weighed in with a range of reactions.
The responses have fallen along the spectrum from strong acceptance by Gov. Jeff Landry and Attorney General Liz Murrill to push back from some New Orleans City Council members.
On Thursday for the first time, District Attorney Jason Williams offered his views, aligning himself with the collaborative middle ground previously express by Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
“As your recall, the National Guard was here at the top of the year. It was a coordinated effort led by (Supt.) Anne Kirkpatrick and it went very smoothly,” Williams said.
