BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — Seven adults were arrested and one unaccompanied minor was taken into custody after what federal authorities are calling an "immigration inspection" in Bay Minette, Thursday.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is implementing a pilot program to crack down on undocumented immigrants in coordination with contractors responsible for construction sites, and participation is entirely voluntary.

It was anything but business as usual Thursday morning in downtown Bay Minette. Ray Coon saw it all from his storefront window.

"I had some officers pull up and get out of their unmarked vehicle, and I knew those weren't local people with their uniforms, so I got up to check it out," said Coon.
