The University of Michigan issued an emergency alert saying to avoid the area of a stabbing that happened on campus on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The alert, sent at 6:22 p.m., asked people to avoid the area of the Zina Pitcher parking structure and Catherine Street. A follow up alert, sent at 7:11 p.m., identified a suspect as a heavyset male wearing a white shirt, tie and jeans, and asked anyone who sees him to call 911. The alerts are being posted on the website for the university's Division of Public Safety and Security .
