LAWERENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - As drought conditions persist in the region, there’s an unrelated situation that is leaving a lake nearly empty.
According to a release from the Wayne National Forest, Lake Vesuvius is experiencing a low water event after some maintenance issues on a dam gate valve.
“I think it’s kinda a big package, you see the drought conditions developing. We’re going into fire season which begins in October, in Ohio,” said Michael Boster with Lawrence County EMA. “In October to November is considered prime fire season. And when the fuels dry out, on top of the ground, the leaves are falling, and we still have debris from an ice storm a year ago and some weather events have occurred, it can be a real problem with wild land fires.... the lakes actually feed into small st
