GRINNELL, Kan. (KSNW) - The road to recovery is a long one, and Grinnell is still on that journey. Four months ago today, an EF3 tornado ripped through the Gove County community, leaving behind widespread damage.
The elementary school was one of the buildings that was hit. Most of the destruction was on the west side, and the storm ripped the roof off. Students are now learning at the middle school while the district works to repair the building.
"We're very hopeful that we're going to get things going back in the right direction, we're going to have a new facility, and we feel very positive right now," Superintendent Keith Hall said.
Hall says they are in a 60-day window to address inventory damage and begin planning repairs.
