BOSTON — On Saturday, word surfaced that Red Sox assistant general manager Paul Toboni had interviewed for the top baseball operations job with the Nationals. It turns out he’s not the only Red Sox executive to have done so.

Eddie Romero, another assistant GM on Craig Breslow’s staff, is also under consideration in Washington after interviewing, according to a report from The Athletic. Washington is looking for a replacement for longtime top executive Mike Rizzo, who was fired in July. The Nats are reportedly considering hiring both a president of baseball operations and a GM but those plans have not been finalized.
