Police and faith leaders held prayer walks in several Toronto neighbourhoods on Thursday as a show of unity against gun violence and as an effort to build trust with communities.

The interfaith walks were held at a time when police say gun violence is down in the city compared to this time last year, but also as Toronto has seen a number of homicides where youth have been accused.

The walks took place in 16 police divisions and were led by members of the Canadian Black Clergies and Allies, a non-profit organization, as well as the police's community partnerships and engagement unit, which supports police programs in communities, the Toronto Police Service said.
