CLEVELAND, Ohio — What happens inside Cleveland City Hall is often the subject of intrigue, but those who drive by 601 Lakeside have been wondering about the outside of the building, too.
Specifically, they’re asking “What’s with all the scaffolding?”
The $19.9 million answer is two-fold, with construction crews working on the building’s roof, the granite facade and the front entry. And the good news for those working in City Hall is that at least one of the projects is set to wrap up soon.
Crews started working on the building’s roof in July 2023, city spokesman Tyler Sinclair said. The work includes replacing all the flat roof areas, repairing the granite on the cornice (the decorative crown on the top edge of the building), new skylights and reworking the roof’s drainage system.
