SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chatham County District Attorney (DA) is calling for a curfew and an end to youth gun violence, after two separate shootings in Savannah Thursday left one minor dead.

DA Shalena Jones sat down with WSAV’s Kaley Fedko in her office to talk about her plan to tackle the problem.

DA Jones told WSAV she is calling for a curfew for people under the age of 18 in Chatham County. The idea is something she said is in the works.

She said she has received support for the idea during conversations with law enforcement and City Manager Jay Melder.

It was Thursday’s shooting combined with the Oglethorpe Mall shooting that has pushed to take action now, she said. She pointed to youths getting their hands on gun as the problem.
