ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A South Fulton police officer will undergo surgery after he was injured in the line of duty Thursday morning.
Cpl. Cornelius Wood was hit by a vehicle on the side of Cascade Road while he was responding to an accident, according to South Fulton police.
He has a broken leg.
“When I was talking to Officer Wood, he was asking me, ‘When can I get back to work?’ In all of his pain that he’s experiencing right now, it just goes to show you the spirit that these men and women have about doing this job every day, and I think that’s something to be applauded,” said Dr. Cedric Alexander, South Fulton’s interim public safety director.
