BRAINERD — Sauk Rapids showed why its at the top of the Central Lakes Conference standings Thursday, Sept. 18.

The Class 3A’s fifth-ranked Storm dismantled Brainerd in three sets 25-18, 25-12 and 25-15 to move to 7-0 in the CLC and 12-1 overall. Meanwhile, the Warriors fall to 0-7 in the CLC and 1-11 overall.

It is the second home loss for the Warriors for homecoming week. Brainerd lost a five-set match Tuesday, Sept. 16, to Willmar.

“We are seeing improvement every single game in some area,” Warriors’ head coach Tana Johnson said. “Sure, we are losing, but our goals are to go to set five and we’ve done that three times this year.”

Brainerd’s Bella Goggleye recorded 18 set assists and three kills. Paige Skoglund led the Warriors in kills with nine, while Cora Clough added seven kills.
