SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - On Wednesday, Sept. 3, a Washoe County man was convicted of child abuse after a school nurse noticed in May that his 3-year-old daughter had extensive bruising and chipped front teeth, according to a news release from Spark’s City Attorney Wes Duncan.

Gavin McKinney was sentenced to 90 days in Washoe County Jail, suspended for one year, and ordered to complete an anger management course, according to the Thursday, Sept. 18, news release.

“We commend the dedication of the Sparks Police Department and the vigilance of the reporting party, whose actions were key to this arrest and conviction,” Duncan said. “Our office remains committed to doing everything necessary to protect the children in our community.”
